Trust me I been watching this movie for almost thirteen years.I love this dvd.I don't have the right words to tell you how good this movie really is.When it comes to kids walt disney movies this one is a must for the collection.

The Lion King

I have seen Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. I thought you couldn't get any better than them. Then comes along in 1994, The Lion King, absolutely the best animated film I have ever seen! From the powerful musical opening, to the heart felt ending, I was into it the whole movie. The Lion King soundtrack is probably the best soundtrack I have ever heard. It is also one of the more intense films produced by Disney. Scar is a character that is hard not to like. He is so evil and exciting. I am not saying that I like evil characters. He is a very exciting character in the movie. The Lion King can be a very emotional movie also, especially when Simba's father is up in the sky, with his deep powerful voice talking to Simba. I have never liked a Disney animated film nearly as much as this. Perhaps since it is the most intense and exciting animated movie I have ever seen.Even if wlat disney mores are not your thing, you'll love this movie.

The Aristocats

A classic tale full of charm and memorable music, this tells the story of Duchess who is teaching her three kittens, Berlioz, Toulouse, and Marie, how to be proper pets. But when the greedy butler, Edgar, overhears the owner's plan to give her entire fortune to the cats first he dumps them in the countryside, but must get past two country, canines Lafayette and Napoleon. Luckily for the high society cats, they meet O' Malley, a street wise alley cat who escorts them home. Children will adore Scat Cat and his gang as they perform," Everybody Wants To Be A Cat." They will also love Lafayette and Napoleon's hijinks as they try to turn Edgar into a chew toy. This is a true Disney classic because it was the last animated feature to be seen by the mouse man himself. This is a great DVD..and even for young children this one is a must.

The Fox and the Hound

For me, the Fox and the Hound cannot be matched by any other Disney film. Unlike the stiffer, older films and the newer, hokier ones, the atmosphere in TFATH is just perfect, truly a revolutionary point in Disney's timeline. The animation is very fluid and the characters have great design and movement. Most of the songs are more like talking than singing, but they're few and far between and manage to get the point across. A nice change from usual Disney fare in the surprisingly sad ending. Considering I'm pretty desensitized to on-screen emotion, it's unusual that I cry every time I watch this one. It's the ONLY Disney movie that can make me. Even so, there's a number of comedic moments to get rid of the tension. I'm not sure where the Amazon review got the idea that the characters lack depth. Believe me, by the time this one is over, you'll be wanting to see much more of all of them. It's an excellent feature that carries an important message all wrapped up inside a lovable, heartwarming, and poignant story. You owe it to yourself and your children to see this one.

The Sword In The Sword

I bought a number of animated features for when my grandchildren come over. I remembered that this was one DVD that we had sent our grandson for his birthday so I got it for our house too.

Well, needless to say is has been played over and over and over again. The tale of the small boy Arthur who was able to become King is so captivating for the kids.

I finally sat down and watched it with them. It is so cute and the music so wonderfully crafted! This is one of my favorites too!

101 Dalmatians

This film is full of the spirit that Disney is all about. It's a fun filled adventure. At times it keeps you on the edge of your seat with suspense, while other parts have you rolling with laughter, and there are even spots where you want to cheer as the heroes triumph.
The animation is perfect, and the voice acting is superb. Every character, big or small, is full to the brim of distinct personality. You feel that every character in this movie actually has a life that they go about. The villains are particularly well established, and you love to hate them. It's great fun watching them get what they deserve as the animals foil their evil plans.
While this dvd may be a little bit difficult for some little ones to follow, all ages can get something out of this movie. The youngest in the audience can find delight in the music and the adorable animation, while older kids get wrapped up in the plot, and the rest of us can reflect on our fond memories of growing up with this movie, and rediscover what made it so special.

Swiss Family Robinson

I was amazed that the two disc set had such wonderful tidbits and not just a re-transferred disney movie like some of their other titles being released on dvd. I bought this DVD because I remembered with such fondness as a child seeing this movie many times. It seems longer than I recall, but I am not complaining! The movie was a treat shown in widescreen, although sometimes I really wish I had a large widescreen tv to see it on. there is a treasure trove of behind the scenes documentaries, interviews of the main actors, and other disney treats. Also loved the cartoon presented at the beginning of the movie, just like classic disney movies at the theatre.

The Jungle Book

This was a treasured movie of my mom's...it was always one of her favorite Disney movies, along with Pinocchio. She passed her love of this movie along to me as a child and I loved it too. When I saw that it was restored, I couldn't pass it up(especially because I have a child of my own now to pass it along too). what a wonderful movie...better than I remembered. No Pixar movie can come close to the warm feeling you get when you watch these cartoons that are actually drawn & painstakingly developed by hand.
I highly recommend this dvd for everyone no matter what your age is.

Lady and the Tramp

I remember first seeing this movie in the theater in 1980 at the age of 6, and becoming so obsessed with it that I drew the characters endlessly (at one point when I was older I won an art contest and received a private tour of the Disney animation studio in Burbank, CA). I also remember the frustration I felt at how long it took Disney to release it to home video, which finally happened when I was a teenager. The story is lovely and the characters absolutely wonderful and memorable, the songs are not overdone and are a nice addition rather than a distraction, and overall this is a movie that adults can enjoy as much as children. The extras DVD with this edition is great with a lot of enjoyable material, especially about the history of the development and artwork of the movie. I highly recommend this edition for Disney lovers, animation lovers, and anyone who loves an engaging and charming story.

Finding Nemo

This dvd movie was better than any of the previous Pixar movies.
This movie just makes one happy, with a wonderful introducing Pixar clip. This clip unlike preivous ones is pretty old, when Pixar was much simpler. This really shows how the animation evolves on one hand, and makes a happy introduction to the movie.
The movie itself is great because.. it is never boring! One problem with many great movies is that you love 90% of them and then you get to this place which is boring, but the script writers made every line of the movie one that you can say again and immediately know where it came from.
Great movie! Recommended for everyone!

Cinderella

Cinderella remains one of the most romantic Disney movies ever made and it is perfect for the whole family. The moral of this story is that you need to believe in yourself and your dreams will come true. Have faith in yourself and you will meet your prince.
Catchy and meaningful lyrics compliment this movie and make it even more memorable. Buy this edition and enjoy! This Cinderella dvd makes a great gift for young & old.

Pinocchio

Good thing Pinocchio was not the 1st Disney Classic DVD that I bought (it's my 5th), because it would have completely overshadowed the other masterpieces that are in my DVD collection. Disney's 2nd film is a terrific viewing experience, in this 60th Anniversary THX Certified Limited Issue DVD. I hadn't seen Pinocchio in over a decade, so I was really looking forward to rediscovering the movie on the DVD format. Seeing it brought back a rush of great memories of the first times that I saw it, it was really nostalgic. The film is vibrant in it's great animation, and magical wonder that makes this movie appealing to any movie lover. Unfortunately, only Walt Disney could create such classics like this one. Yes, Disney has released some GREAT classics ("Lion King", "The Little Mermaid", "Beauty & The Beast") but they are not the same as the ones he worked on himself. The film also features one of the best: "When You Wish Upon A Star", a song that seems to have been inducted into American culture over the past 60 years.
The double Oscar winning Pinocchio remains one of Disney's greatest landmarks, and should be on the top of the list for those who want to collect these great films .

Bambi

If film makers could figure out how to make a film like "Bambi" every time, the art of film making would be just that; an art. "Bambi" is a tale that is for children. However, that tale contains every element present in the life of a typical child: friendship, love, parental protection, loss, fear of the unknown, and, of course, growing up. I am still astonished at how a film that clocks in at 69 minutes can capture the essence of life.

"Bambi" is born into the world of the forest. Everyone calls him a prince. Bambi learns quickly that his world is full of friends, but he also soon learns that portions of the world are scary and unknown, with the scariest thing of all, the creature we never see, man. "Bambi" alternates between humor and fear, and yet, the theme of the movie is that all these things are a part of life.

Of course, we know that in the end Bambi will overcome, giving children and adults everywhere a message of hope. No matter the traumas that we face in life, we have the ability to persevere. We have the ability to change our world. We have the ability to love and hope. We too can be Bambi.

Few movies can touch "Bambi" in the skill of animation and direction. The plotting is phenomenally focused and fast-paced. This movie is one that every home should own, regardless of whether you have children or not.

This review is based on a copy of the DVD provided to me by Amazon and Disney Studios.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

This Special Edition DVD is simply the finest DVD Walt Disney Movies has brought out thus far. As "The one that started it all" Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs deserved to be a good DVD set , nevertheless this double disc set outshone even my expectations and I'm a Snow White nut par excellence!!
They have gone to town in every department - the transfer both audiophonically and visually is nothing short of breathtaking - far surpassing the laserdisc version of a few years ago. The clarity of both sound and vision really left me astonished . The extras are great too - the comparisons of storyboard art and finished movie sequences are a nice touch, as is the Slave of the Magic Mirror as Our Host - a most effective series of new animated slots which add a lot to the set. All in all this is a DVD Box Set which should be on the shelves of every movie buff - an excellent addition to enhance any collection. The snow white & the 7 dwarfs dvd delivered.

The Little Memaid

The day my dad bought me this movie back in april 1993, I instantly fell in-love with it. And while it was only the third addition to my Disney collection back then (following "The Little Mermaid" & "Beauty and the Beast"), today, having over 20 Disney films in my library, it still remains one of my favorite Disney movies ever.
I loved everything about this film, but mostly the glossy animation. It reminds me of that in "Cinderella". Very pristine, very detailed, amazing colors. Equally important, the characters are very appealing, especially Tinker-Bell and the evil-yet-hilarious Captain Hook. Wendy is also a great character, drawn very beautifully. The story of "Peter Pan" has always interested me, and therefore I had high expectations upon watching this movie for the first time. I remember watching it with my sisters; we were totally blown away by it. It's easily a classic in a league of its own.The Little Mermaid DVD is a must for your walt disney collection.

Sleeping Beauty

This movie is one of the great classics of animation, especially for Disney. The DVD version is significantly improved compared to the previous VHS tape. The picture and sound were both greatly enhanced for this release. Furthermore, both widescreen and full screen versions are available in this package. As with Disney's other classics, some liberties were taken with the original story of Sleeping Beauty. Disney took the classic story and made it unique and special. In some ways the story is less violent and dark than the original fairy tale. In other ways, such as the portrayal of Maleficent, the movie is dark and forbidding. While the movie is generally a children's movie, Maleficent's dragon and her general demeanor can be somewhat frightening for some in the pre-school and younger set.
Aurora was the first love for many a young boy, and was also the model for the aspirations of millions of girls. The romantic love story of Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip enchanted would-be princesses everywhere, and in some cases became the measure by which future spouses were measured (and many of us struggled to meet the ideal).
Of course, the romantic story and the evil of Maleficent were balanced by the comedy of the animal characters and the three bumbling, good-hearted fairy godmothers. While their goodness may appear a bit too vanilla and sweet for some, it is perfect for those longing for the innocence of their youth.
While the movie is the most important part of the DVD, this two CD set contains a phenomenal number of extras. I found the audio commentary by various key individuals to be absolutely fascinating. I planned to listen to portions of the commentary in preparation for my review, and instead found myself listening to the entire thing because it was so incredibly fascinating. Mary Costa (Princess Aurora) and others provide their perspective on the creation of the movie, as well as personal memories of Walt Disney and his influence on the film. The audio commentary by itself is worth replacing your VHS tape, particularly for aficionados of Disney movies.
In addition to the audio commentary are numerous, emphasize numerous, other bonus features. Some I felt were less than worthwhile, others, such as the shorts "Grand Canyon" and "The Peter Tchaikovsky Story," were excellent bonuses. The number of bonuses on this two disc set was so large that there is a navigational overview included in the DVD that categorizes 38 features found on the second disc.
With the movie and the wealth of bonuses, this movie is a must-buy for those who have yet to have "Sleeping Beauty." For those who have the VHS, the bonus material is nearly worth the cost of the DVD. Certainly those who are collectors of Disney memorabilia and historians of Disney will find the DVD to be a concise compendium of some of the best information available regarding this film. I highly recommend this DVD!
